Planchette: collection of Jose-Maria Cano
Raven (Le Tombeau de Edgar Poe)
Charcoal drawing in mechanical book, A4 double-page spread, 2008
The drawing Raven was displayed at Nettie Horn Gallery, London April 2008, in a complex arrangement where an exhibition was produced inside another exhibition like a Russian doll. The outer show was called No Letters curated by Leigh Clarke, the inner show was called Planchette and was curated by Peter Suchin. Planchette, where the Raven could be seen, consists of a mechanical book with pages that automatically turn every 12 seconds. The work of ten artists was arranged in the book, around the theme of ghosts and hauntings. Raven developed out of a visit by the curator and myself to the tomb of Edgar Allen Poe in Baltimore.
